Prairie Lakes AEA is in need of a representative from the Greene County or Paton-Churdan school district on its seven-member board of directors. The director district represents East Sac County, Greene County, Manson-Northwest Webster, Paton-Churdan, Prairie Valley and South Central Calhoun.
Prairie Lakes AEA is a regional service agency that served 39 public school districts and 11 non-public schools in a 14 county area that includes about 30,000 students.
PLAEA serves children, families and educators in the areas of special education (approximately 80 percent of its resources), media and technology, and professional learning for administrators, teachers and para-educators.
The city of Jefferson has provided strong leadership on the PLAEA board with Rick Morain and Bruce Bahnson serving multiple terms. Each term is four years, just like a local school board. The board meets monthly in Pocahontas at the Prairie Lakes central office.
Persons who would like to know more can contact Prairie Lakes chief administrator Jeff Herzberg at 515-570-2601 or email him at jherzberg@plaea.org.
